1966 - Thanks to the collection of papers and boxes by the pupils, sold then by the Director Mr Jean HIDALGO,
a first table is bought and installed under the court of the elementary school of the village of Cestas
(Information communicated by Mister P.L. parent of pupil of this school)
Involvement in the setting of the school sport and the laic work federation.
1968 - Under the impulse of the new director of this school Mr Jean-Marie THONIER, the A.C.S.E.P. (Friendly,
Cultural and Sporty association
of the Public Schools of Cestas) participate in table tennis competitions in " Guyenne ".
1969 - Creation of the Club and adherence to the French Federation of Table Tennis.
1975 - Adherence to the Sport Athletic Gazinet Cestas (S.A.G.C.) with 39 members.
1976 - The section progresses in strengths (48 members) and in "quality" so the township of Cestas constructs a specific Hall of 500 m²s.
1981 - Publication of the internal newspaper "raquet" (only one edition).
1982 - Setting up of an Sporty Municipal Educator who works with all primary school groups and with the College where sporty classes are created with suitable timetables. The club counts 110 members and it permits the formation of many young people and contribute to the accession at the national level for girls and boys teams.
1985 - Accession to the NATIONAL 4 (the club counts 153 members)
1986 - Accession to the NATIONAL 3
1987 - Accession to the NATIONAL 2, Cestas is vice Champion of France of 2nd division
1988 - Accession to the NATIONAL 1, named SUPER DIVISION in 1991, and maintenance
grace in particular to Patrick BIROCHEAU who come to Cestas, exalted of his selection to the Olympics Games of Seoul.
1989/90 - The number of members pass to 176 of which 112 young.
1990/91 - The number of members pass to 202 of which 126 young. The Table Tennis section gets the first NATIONAL LABEL awarded by the F.F.T.T..
1991/92 - The number of members pass to 253 of which 184 young.
An internal newspaper starts again "S.A.G.C.T.T. INFOS".
The club creates a 2nd salaried job for a sporty educator.
The first team is beaten 5 to 3 in play-offs final by Levallois and becomes vice-champion of France.
Nicolas CHATELAIN captain of this team qualifies himself for the Olympics Games of Barcelona.
1992/93 - The number of members pass to 324 of which 257 young, the S.A.G.Cestas places 3rd to the TOP NATIONAL CLUB.
1993/94 - The number of members pass to 370 of which 294 young, the S.A.G.Cestas places again 3rd to the TOP NATIONAL CLUB.
Recognized like one of the known sports in Cestas, in Gironde or even in Aquitaine the table tennis section of the S.A.G.CESTAS reaches summits while reaching 1/4 final of the European Cup of Clubs after having eliminated best Turkish, Austrian and German teams.
1994/95 - The Table Tennis had 30 years of existence in Cestas, the number of members pass to 394 of which 306 young, and the township decides the construction of a bigger Hall.
The internal newspaper changes name on occasion of its seventh publication its name "Balle de Match" (Match Ball).
1995/96 - While waiting for the new Hall, stabilization voluntary of strengths to 244 members of which 146 young permitting some more numerous practices with two professional executive of which a part-time.
3 teams champions of Aquitaine: the first feminine team in first division, cadettes and cadets in the interclubs.
The Cestadais Damien ELOI participates in the Olympics Games of Atlanta.
1996/97 - Maintenance of strengths to the same level and creation of a trainer job in formation to the State Diploma, 245 members of which 158 young. 2 teams champions: the
minimes girls champions of Aquitaine in the interclubs and a senior team champion of Gironde of first division.
The first masculine team is vice-champion of France for the second time... again behind Levallois, the cestadais Matthew SYED (English) player of this team becomes champion of England.
1997/98 - Strengh in light progress with 286 members of which 182 young. Four teams are
champions of Aquitaine: the minimes girls, the minimes and the junior boys winners of the interclubs and a senior team in 3rd division.
The cestadais Matthew SYED impose himself in England in taking back the national title for the 2nd consecutive year.
Creation of an internet site to mean the entry of the S.A.G.C. on the web (25 May 1998).
1998 - On occasion of the 15th birthday of the French-German Twinning between the
cities of CESTAS and REINHEIM, Pierre DUCOUT (Deputy Mayor of Cestas) and Manuel PEÑARROYA
(President of Table Tennis section of the S.A.G.CESTAS) inaugurate, on June the 13th, a second specific Hall at the new norms, in very numerous personality presence of which Karl HARTMANN (Mayor of Reinheim).
After 10 past years to the head of Table Tennis section Manuel PEÑARROYA give up the armchair of President to Claude CHILON during the general assembly of July 10th of 1998.
1999/2000 - Strength stabilized with 313 members of which 206 young people.
To the young team Interclubs the S.A.G.Cestas for the 3rd consecutive year takes away
the trophy Philippe BAYLAC thanks to the victories of the younger children and the younger
children Eric SPRINGAUX, Arnaud LUC and Florent VISAGE who become Vices-champions of France
during the finales National to MEZE.
The S.A.G.Cestas takes away the challenge young Aquitaine which rewards the formative clubs of the League of Aquitaine. Koji MATSUSHITA and Daniel TSIOKAS participate in the J.O. of Sydney.
2000/2001 - Again workforce is for the increase with 358 members of which 266 young people.
The team number 1 feminine reaches again the National 2 without
being able to remain there. The team pennant male reaches in 1/4 of finale of the Europe Cup E.T.T.U.
In section of the Gironde young 2 titles are taken away by the youngest children and the juniors girls.
To the young team Interclubs the S.A.G.Cestas takes away for the 4th consecutive year the trophy
Philippe BAYLAC. Jean-Claude PRECIGOUT replaces Claude CHILON in the Presidency of the club.
2001/2002 - The number of members confirms in the increase with 405 members among whom 310 young
people. The women's team number one lowered in Regional 2 takes away the title and goes back up in
Regional 1. The men's team number one reaches in 1/8 of finale of the Europe Cup E.T.T.U. by bowing in
front of future winner the German club of PLUDERHAUSEN. She ends on the 4th place of the Championship
of France of SUPERDIVISION in 2 points of three leaders. Michel MARTINEZ is Champion of France in Men's
doubles associated to Cédric MIRAULT and silver medal in Mixed doubles associated to Sabrina FERNANDE.
To the young team Interclubs the S.A.G.Cestas takes away for the 5th consecutive year the trophy Philippe
BAYLAC. Michel LACOMME is elected in the Presidency of the club.
2002/2003 - The number of members is stabilized with 407 members including 305 young people of less than 18 years.
The women's team number one with Laura BONZON, Stephanie TRANTAN, Cecile COUTOU and Emilie LE BELLU finished unconquered the first phase of the Championship into Regional 1 and reached division Nationale 2. At the time of the 2nd phase this team finishes 5th and is maintained.
The men's team number one with Michel MARTINEZ, Daniel TSIOKAS, Matthew SYED and Song LIU finishes in a very beautiful 5th place in SUPERDIVISION and qualifies itself to take part in the Europe E.T.T.U. Nancy-Evans Cup.
The team fails in 1/16 of finale. of this Cup of beaten Europe of accuracy 3/2 as Slovakia by the Polish of RACULA (in a hen of four after having beaten the Austrian favourites and MALACKY).
The young person Florent SAZATORNIL joined the brains trust at the Management Committee of the section at the time of the A.G of September 2003.
2003/2004 - The number of members make a beautiful progression with 457 members (+ 12%) including 352 young people (+ 16,5%) of less than 18 years.
The women's team number one, wich play in National 2, with Laura BONZON, Celine BRETIN, Cecile COUTOU, Sophie FIOROT and Stephanie TRANTAN carries out a very good season finishes in the 4th place of the classification.
The men's team number one with Michel MARTINEZ, Song LIU, Damien PROVOST and Matthew SYED after a catastrophic beginning of season (only one no one with the outward journey) finishes 5th championship of Pro A and qualifies itself for the Cut of Nancy-Evans Europe.
The S.A.G.CESTAS fails in 1/8 of finale of the of ETTU European Cup 3/1 beateen in HAVIROV brought by N°1 of the Czech Republic Petr KORBEL world N°18.
Song LIU the leader of the club is qualified for the Olympic Games of Athens into simple and double Sirs. The new recruit Finn TUGWELL (Danish) also takes part in the OJ in the test of the double Sirs.
The Town of Cestas increases the hearth of the section and built an extension of 16 m² availability of the professional trainers and elected members of the Office (this room is also equipped with new furniture).
2004/2005 - The number of members make a light progression with 468 members (+ 2,4%). The young people of less than 18 years which represent more than 75% of the members of the section table tennis are 354. S.A.G.Cestas remains classified 2nd Aquitanian club.
COMPETITIONS BY TEAMS
Twenty five teams took part in the various championships men's, women's and young people.
The men's team number one carried out one season exceptional and finished on the podium in the 3rd place of the Championship of France of Pro A. These results allow S.A.G.Cestas the participation for the first time of its history in most prestigious of the competitions by team the European Champions League, and to remain in a very exceptional way among the Nationale elite for the eighteenth season consecutively.
The women's team number one made up of young players evolves/moves for the 3rd season consecutively on the level Nationale 2.
INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS
Season 2004/2005 was exceptional on the level of the various individual competitions. Fine TUGWELL medal-holder of Bronze in Double to the Olympic Games of Athens, after a title of Champion of Europe by teams, becomes Champion of Denmark. Song LIU Champion of Argentina, medal of Gold in double and Silver into simple to the Championships of Latin America. Michel MARTINEZ medal of Bronze to the Championships of France.
Celine BRETIN medal of Silver to the National finale by classification. Edith PEÑARROYA Vice-Champion of France in mixed double (with Christophe AYHERRA) to the Corpo National. PICARD Pierre Vice-Champion of France as a simple Veteran and Vice-Champion of Europe in double (with Mircea NICORESCU) to the Championships of Europe. Axel PALARUELLO and victorious Thibault PATINGRE in their category of the Great Price of the Council General of the Gironde.
NATIONAL and REGIONAL MERIT
The French Federal Merit Silver level was given to Manuel PEÑARROYA at the time of the Congress of the FFTT which was held in Niort (79) on May 2005.
The Regional Merit Silver level was decreed in Raphaël PEÑARROYA and Alain FOURNIER and their was given at the time of the A.G of the League of Aquitaine on September 10 last in Sanguinet (40).
